3 days Slavonija and Baranja – Đakovo – Osijek – Vukovar – Ilok – Kopački rit

1. day: Zagreb-Đakovo-Osijek

Departure______________ in the early morning hours. Driving by a comfortable tourist bus to the eastern part of Croatia. Panoramic tour of fertile and rich surroundings to the center of Đakovština, Đakovo – a sightseeing of the city symbol; neromantic Cathedral Sv. Petar was built in 1882, according to the idea of a bishop, a native of Josip Juraj Strossmayer, made of bricks, with two 84 meters tall bell tower and a rich inventory.

A visit to one of the oldest stud farm Lipizzaner in Europe; a tour accompanied by a friendly host. Continuation of the journey towards the economic, traffic and cultural center of Slavonia, the city on the river Drava – Osijek. Upon arrival city tour: Baroque Fort; a monument dedicated to St. Trinity decorated with statues of saints – the protector of plague, marble fountains, Jesuit Church, Franciscan church, the only preserved city gate – Water Gate, the city walls, the Upper Town; monument-symbol of the city – cathedral, Croatian National Theater, baroque chapel of St. Rok.

Walking along the promenade of the Drava, the “Osijek Promenade” we will experience the special atmosphere that gives this town a port with numerous boats, a beach, a hiking pedestrian bridge for Baranja … Going to the hotel, dinner, accommodation overnight.

Đakovo – known for its monumental cathedral and, in the world famous Lipizzaner stud farm, is another pearl that tells its residents and visitors about its rich history.

Osijek – close to the river Dunav, connected to the river Drava from which, since its creation, it has pumped life juices, leaving roots in fertile Slavonian soil, Osijek developed slowly and systematically, giving its builders time to carefully plan every detail. This makes him one of the jewels in the treasury of Central European cities.

Vukovar – the Srijem beauty of the river Dunav, is divided by the river Vuk on the old and new part. 2. day: Osijek–Vukovar – Ilok – Osijek

Breakfast, we go to the hero town, Vukovar. Upon arrival, a local guided tour followed by a sightseeing of the symbol of Croatia’s suffering in the Homeland War. Sightseeing the city: Trpinjska cesta – Borovo – Port-Dunav – Sajmište – Mitnica – Vodotoranj – symbol of the defense of Vukovar. Visit to the museum of the town of Vukovar.

Lunch at the restaurant. Gondola Restaurant is located in the center of Sotina. It is located on the main road Vukovar-Ilok. In this ambiance you can taste Srijem dishes prepared in an original way. The following is a visit to the Museum of the Hospital and to the New Cemetery – the mass grave of killed defenders and civilians in the Homeland War and the departure to Ovčara.

Departing to Ilok- walk in Ilok, a visit to the Ilok’s Cellars and the Franciscan Church in Ilok. Back to hotel for dinner, overnight.

3. day Osijek – Kopački rit – Zagreb

Breakfast, then a half-day trip to Kopački rit – nature park and ornithological reserve, one of the most important, largest and most conserved original wetland areas of Europe.

Following is the visit of the Kopački rit: tour of the Eblin farm, tour of the Tikveš castle complex and sightseeing of the “Old Brijest” educational trail of 2500 m with a professional guide.

Lunch at the restaurant. Return to Zagreb late in the afternoon.
