At the end of June Podravina town of Đurđevac becomes especially alive. Legend of Picoki becomes a reality. In this outdoor folk theater play, hundreds of statists and horsemen participate in the name of Picok, which each person from Đurđevac proudly wears. Legend has it that the Ulama-bey in the 16th century in an attempt to break the resistance under the Đurđevac Fortress decided to siege and starvation of its inhabitants.
In fact it would succeed if it was not for this clever old woman who suggested to put the last cockerel or in podravian picok into the cannon and fire it at the Turkish camp. Confident that the fort has plenty food, Ulama-beg leaves the battlefield, and the people from Đurđevac have since then become Picoki, as the “curse” of the defeated beg.
