Svetvinčenat with its charm and ambiance returns you to history and represents the soul of old Istria ..
As was customary at the time, the witch was executed on a stake in the courtyard of the local Kaštela. The real question that needs to be asked is the following: Did Mare really conclude that night, or did she still survive? And for the answer you still have to visit Svetvinčenat, the new Visitor Center “Mare Witch House”.
Try the game Escape Castle, where 2-5 players in teams can participate.
It is an innovative concept, unique in the world, based on Istrian legends, and historical records. The game is for all generations, with a duration of 30 minutes to an hour.
Across almost the entire northern side of the Place lies the stone fortress Morosini-Grimani, the most preserved on the peninsula and the largest Svetivinčenat building that has for centuries been a symbol of the place and destination, formerly soldiers, guests of the nobility, travelers and merchants, and today curious passers-by and tourists.
Today, Kaštel is one of the most beautiful Venetian buildings of that time in Istria. On three corner-three towers, and on the fourth- a palace with rooms for the master and the captain’s apartment. All four entrances to the city were controlled from these towers. The tower is connected to the ramparts, which have a supporting wall on the outside, and the entire length of the balcony from the inside from which the guards watched through the openings of the loophole.
At the door, besides the moving bridge, there was a large racking compartment. Above the entrance is the coat of arms of the castle, the present coat of arms of Svetvincenat, and the coat of arms of the family of Grimani di San Luca. Inside, besides the wide courtyard, it was the apartment manager’s office, the public storage and ammunition depot, the gun room, the rooms for 200 musketeers and spears and a very secure jail-under-ground prison.
