Three day walk on the largest Croatian peninsula

2.DAY: SVETVINČENAT – BALE – FOŠKA

Breakfast. After breakfast we go to Svetvinčenat to visit KAŠTELA. Throughout almost the entire northern side of the Place lies the stone quadrangular castle Grimani, the most preserved on the peninsula and the largest Svetvinčenat building that for centuries has been a symbol of the place and destination, a long time ago of soldiers, guests of the gentry, travelers and merchants, and today curious passers-by and tourists.

After visiting Kaštela we go to a nearby family farm Pekica – hosts are engaged in lavender cultivation, with short training and walking in the field of lavender, we will taste homemade strudel and lavender bread, cottage cheese covered with olive oil and lavender, lavender brandy and lavender syrup ….

Continuing the drive towards Bala – a place of virgin beauty that is characterized by natural resources, untouched nature and rich cultural and architectural heritage.

We will walk to the Old Town center, within which is the famous Soardo-Bembo castle, the parish church Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the crypt.

After the walk we drive to the nearby Saint Foška – small church i.e. pilgrimage place in Istria, which has always been visited by people from the surrounding area; many have argued, and today they claim that their health condition has improved here and that they have found peace and strength for life.

Back to the hotel. Dinner. Overnight stay.

Obilazak grada. Ovim istarskim gradićem dominira srednjovjekovni kaštel. Pred kaštelom nalazi se prostrani trg – najljepši renesansni trg u Istri. S istočne strane krasi ga renesansna crkva, s južne strane niz starih kuća s gradskom lođom. Sa zapada prolazi cesta uz koju se nalaze dobro očuvane kuće i palače. U Svetvinčenatu je otvorena nova turistička atrakcija, doživljaj i priča – Centar za posjetitelje “Kuća vještice Mare”

Legenda tj. priča ide ovako nekako… Mare Radolovich, danas poznata kao Vještica Mare, bila je lokalna travarka i ljekarica. Godine 1632. njeni susjedi i sugrađani optužili su nesretnicu za pakt s vragom i osudili ju na smrt. Nije pomogla ni činjenica da je svoje krvnike Mare još do jučer liječila od bolesti i pomagala im u riješavanju njihovih problema.

1.DAY: POREČ – VRSAR – ROVINJ

Poreč – We will be going to the old town center: the Decumanus long street and the cross street Cardo, the well-known Euphrasius, Marafor square, where fragments of ancient temples are kept. To the rich treasury of monuments also belong the ROMAN HOUSE, HOUSE OF TWO SAINTS, PENTAGONAL TOWER ….

We head to the nearby protected complex – the sculpture park of the largest Croatian contemporary sculptor Dušan Džamonja, whose sculptures are exhibited in the most eminent museums of the world.

We continue driving in the direction of Rovinj – walk and sightseeing of the old town, the baroque three-nave church of Sv. Euphemia, a bell tower of 60 m height with a unique statue of St. Euphemia on top …

Enjoying the beautiful view that stretches to a group of 14 islands, where the largest one is the Red Island. There once was Benedictine, then Franciscan monastery, and today one of Rovinj’s hotels. Going to the hotel. Dinner. Overnight stay.

3.DAY: MOTOVUN – ROČ – HUM

Breakfast. We go to Motovun. The city is the best preserved medieval Istrian fortress, which developed on the top of a steep hill. His name was of Celtic origin, and it came from the word Montona, which means the town in the mountains. We ride in the direction of Roč.

In the Middle Ages the town was the center of Glagolitic activity. We will visit the local church of St. Ante and see the famous Glagolitic alphabet. Besides the church we will also visit the private Ethnographic Museum of Antiquities and the mill.

Organized lunch. We continue to Hum. At the foot of Hum begins the Alley of Glagolitic, which consists of 10 stone attributes dedicated to Glagolitic and Glagolitics. Hum has not developed beyond the city walls till today, and because of its final size it is the smallest city in the world. Back in the evening.
