Vukovar – Vučedol – Ilok 2 days

2. day – VUKOVAR – ILOK – ZAGREB

Breakfast. After breakfast, check out the hotel. A visit to the newly opened Museum of Vučedol culture with expert guidance, and then ride to Ilok, the easternmost Croatian town.

Visit to the Ilok Cellars (Old Cellar) with the expert guidance of the oenologist – including a glass of Traminer and  salty flat breads upon arrival.

After a tour of the Cellar, follows a walk through Ilok and visiting the sights of the city: Odelscalchi family castle, where the Ilok Museum is located, the Church of St. Ivan Kapistrano and then free time for personal programs (possibility of lunch).

Return to Zagreb where the arrival is planned in the evening.

1. day – ZAGREB – VUKOVAR

Departure from ZAGREB at 6.30 PM.

Highway driving in the direction of Slavonski Brod and on to Vukovar. Upon arrival, a trip to the Trpinjska cesta (“tanks cemetery”) where the Memorial House of Croatian Defenders is open, the building is made in the form of a tightly clenched fist symbolizing the strength by which Vukovar defended itself from aggression.

The following is a visit to the Vukovar Hospital (“The Place of Remembrance – Vukovar Hospital 1991”) – a view of a short movie about the hospital in the war years and a tour of a part of the hospital that became a symbol of suffering but also of resistance, faith and hope …

In the afternoon, a meeting with a local licensed guide and a visit to the locality and memorial house of Ovčara – the detour of one of the most modern memory centers in Europe.

The following is a visit to the Memorial Cemetery of Homeland War Victims. Return to the center of the town and visit the church and monastery of Sv. Philip and Jakov. Then a tour of the cultural and historical sights of the city: Eltz Castle (outside), historical baroque center, birthplace of Lavoslav Ružićka, the cross raised in memorial to all victims of war and located on the very edge of Vuka into Dunav …

Following is the departure to Hotel “Lav” **** and accommodation and dinner. After dinner, depart for the evening sailing on the Danube with a wine tasting. During the ride, you will enjoy the view of the city’s Danube lights, and during the voyage you will be able to see the Vukovar movie screening as it once was. Overnight stay.
